I Guess It's Time To Say, Hello
Ha! No seriously… oftentimes we get ever so comfortable having everything at our fingertips. Reading and searching out God’s Word is a way we worship, maintain our relationship, get answers, find encouragement, wisdom, love, purpose… Get it? And the list goes on and on. Ok, now that you have read that scripture don’t you feel better? God’s word is our guide. And without it we cannot understand the ways or heart of God nor how to fight against the enemy, Satan, who fights against us.
Now on to Let’s Be Converts. What is it? It is an invitation. This invitation is from Christ to you, whether you have already received Him or not. For those who have received Him, it is an invitation to draw nearer to Him in these times, find your purpose in Christ, skim away those things we just cannot seem to let go, submit to His process and just obey Him. To those who have not received Him; it is an invitation to choose Him. Christ invites you to make Him your choice—“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live” (Deuteronomy 30:19).
God lays before us choices (free will). Everyday we make thousand of choices, from small to great. We are free will moral agents. Free to choose our paths in life. I know some circumstances in your life may make you feel like, hey! I didn’t choose this!! It chose me. But believe it or not, who you are regardless of past or present circumstances is still a choice. But I also understand that in some/most outcomes, we need help to see another way another choice. God has a path that He has designed that is greater and yes better than any path we choose for ourselves whether by default or clear-cut decision making. He says, though you can choose as you please, I want you to choose me. That is how much Christ loves us. To be the sacrifice for our sins by shedding His innocent blood and dying brutally for a world that He knew would reject Him. “He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not. He came unto His own, and His own received Him not” ( John 1:11).
Wow! Isn't that amazing? Just think about it. Who do you know that will die for someone who is guilty? No matter race, culture, and societal status we all were/are guilty. Christ took on our punishment. Honestly, some could say I know someone that would possibly die for me. But that person probably deems you worthy of the sacrifice. But Christ died for the “worthy” by man’s standard and "unworthy" by that same standard. Simply, the invitation is given to all. And we all have a choice.
Contrary to some beliefs on Christianity, it was never intended to be religious or rather what religion is viewed as in this culture/society. It was meant to be a representation of a people who lived their lives in reflection of Christ. The disciples of Christ were first called Christians in Antioch, modern day South Central Turkey. And they were called Christians, not because they gathered in a building once or twice a week. They were called Christians because they were identified as those who followed Christ. What is your identity? Who do you say you are? What image of yourself do you have? Is it something you can be proud of? Or Is it just one of those things that happened to you because of circumstances? And the most important question of all... no matter the answer or how great the identity you have crafted, will you trade that identity to be in Christ?
