The Responsibility of God
I thought about this topic a lot in many ways. This topic is looming over our everyday lives. It’s in the choices we make and how/what we think about God. For a second I thought the title could be; “The Responsibility To God”. But no I felt lead to keep it as you see above because there is a difference between the Responsibility of God and the Responsibility To God.. The Responsibility/burden of God many won’t carry, mainly due to not wanting to give up their lives.
The Responsibility of God is like being branded. It is a branding that shows whether it’s favorable or unfavorable. It is recognized. It separates you; often leaving you looking for others branded like you. This responsibility is a life lived truly converted and accepting of God from His perspective; not our own. It is a life that wants truly what God wants… It is a life that is willing to change their opinions if it conflicts with God. With that said; I understand more and more the scripture that admonishes us to count the cost of this life with Christ: “For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it” Luke 14:28. Here we see Luke saying basically whoever decides to become a disciple of Christ should take into account the price that is acquainted with discipleship. This scripture means an understanding must come to the follower of Christ. Many of us have entered into an agreement with God (salvation) without understanding the big print. We must take time to understand The Responsibility of God we must carry, and what it means in this earth in this day. If we don’t understand it and surrender to it, when it is time to pay our price, we will break our agreement or decide on a version of discipleship that is agreeable to us all due to the lack of knowledge of the The Responsibility of God we carry.
It is not like we blatantly tell God; “I don’t want to give up my life”. Some of us are not that honest… But we tell Him in subtle and big ways. From not acknowledging Him in our decision-making or living in our opinions rather than in His Word, or not maintaining our relationship with Him. We tell God; “My life is MY life”. The Responsibility of God in the earth is not easy… but rewarding beyond measure. You are a pilgrim and this is not your home but yet you live here. Unfortunately, many with good intentions allows the cares of this life to kill the seed of God in them, and we start to feel like carrying God is a burden when He said; “My yoke is easy and my burden is light” Matthew 11:30.
I can’t help but remember a post someone had up on Facebook… It said; how come people pray for blessings and not changed behavior? And immediately I thought; these are people who wanted the fishes and the loaves but not the God of the fishes and loaves. Knowing God in a shallow way is easier than knowing Him in a deeper way… This deeper way has nothing to do with intellect or how many scriptures you know… It is about submission and obedience. To carry God is a responsibility. It is always there. But you must ask, am I willing to pay the price? Am I willing to receive God’s stamp in a world consistently working to push Him out? And with this understanding, will I still carry Him willingly and joyfully?
